AccessibleMath @ MathDemos is an online resource to connect mathematics instructors and students to web-based and multimedia content for calculus that has been designed to meet accessibility needs for students with low vision or hearing.

All materials may be used in unmodified form, without charge, for any instructional purpose.

Math Display--MathML and Images

Math symbols are displayed using MathML or images. Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and higher has native MathML support on all platforms (Mac, Windows, and Linux). While native support for MathML is not yet implemented in Internet Explorer, a free MathML Mathplayer plugin for Internet Explorer is available from Design Science. Currently, Safari and Opera do not support MathML.

Images that display mathematical symbols are ALT or LONGDESC tagged using standard vocabulary as in the Project Math Access Handbook for Spoken Mathematics.

Multimedia Display

Multimedia content is provided in Flash format with audio and closed-captioning. You must have the latest version of Flash player to view the multimedia content.
